The UK Home Office launched a consultation process to gather input from stakeholders and the public on its proposed New Plan for Immigration. The stated objectives of the new plan are three-fold:
- To ensure fairness and efficacy for those in need of asylum so the UK can better protect them.
- To stop illegal migration, thereby preventing criminals from profiting off of people and protecting those who risk their lives to enter the country
- To remove more easily from the UK those with no right to be present.
